What is the Barik Mobile app?

It is an application created by the CTB so you can have your Barik card in your mobile phone, enabling you to validate it on public transport directly with your mobile phone, and top up and consult your card on your own phone.

What is the Barik Mobile pilot project?

Before the widespread launch of the Barik Mobile application for all Barik passengers, the CTB is testing the technology with a small group of young users who have the Gazte 70 and Gazte Oro passes.

Who can use the Barik Mobile app?

It can only be used by those registered for the Barik Mobile Pilot Project, who will be able to recharge their travelcard after a first recharge of a Gazte 70 or Gazte Oro card.

What forms of transport can the Barik Mobile card be used with during the pilot test?

The Gazte 70 and Gazte oro can be used for Bizkaibus, Metro Bilbao, Euskotren, Bilbao Tramway, Lejoan Busa (Leioa), the Larreineta Funicular railway and Sopelbus.

Passengers can travel with a travelcard on the Bizkaibus, Metro Bilbao, Euskotren, Bilbao Tramway, Lejoan Busa (Leioa), Larreineta Funicular railway, Sopelbus, Bilbobus, Artxanda Funicular railway, Kbus, Erandio Bus, Etxebarri Bus, the Ereaga Panoramic Lift, and the Hanging Bridge.

In the Barik Mobile pilot test, it cannot be used on the Renfe or in the park and ride car parks.

What are the conditions for registering with the Barik Mobile Pilot Project?

  • Being in possession of an active, personal Barik card.
  • Being under the age of 26, with residency registered in any municipality in Bizkaia.
  • Having the Gazte profile in your Barik card.
  • Being registered to access your Barik card information via the CTB website (“access to ‘mi barik" menu).
  • A mobile phone with NFC technology and Android 8.0 Operating System or higher.

How do I register with the Barik Mobile Pilot Project?

Enter the “access to ‘mi barik’” menu on the CTB website, https://www.ctb.eus/mibarik and follow the steps indicated there.

The CTB will approve your participation after verifying that you meet the conditions.

What do I do once the CTB approves my application to register with the Barik Mobile Pilot Project?

Once the CTB approves the application to participate, it will send an email to the participant with the following indications::
  • 1. Go to the Bizkaia Public Transport office in San Mames (Termibus) with your physical Barik card in order to adapt it to the programme. If you have a temporary pass it must have a zero balance.
  • 2. Install the free Barik Mobile app (Google Play)
  • 3. Enter your user name and password in the app, the same you use to access the information on the website in “access to ‘mi barik’".
  • 4. Purchase a Gazte 70 or Gazte Oro pass in the app itself or on the CTB website, paying with Bizum or a credit card

What obligations are acquired when participating in the Barik Mobile Pilot Project?

  • Travelling with the Gazte 70 and Gazte Oro passes contained in your mobile phone.
  • During the pilot test, if the validity period of the APK has not been automatically updated, you must refresh it at least once a week.
  • Keeping your phone switched on and with battery charge during the validation and the journey.
  • Responding to the CTB in surveys and forms regarding your experience with the Barik Mobile app.
  • Quickly reporting any incident when using the App.

What advantages do I enjoy by participating in the Barik Mobile Pilot Project?

  • Validating your ticket on public transport comfortably, quickly and safely.
  • Participating in a draw for 3 prizes consisting of 3 months of free transport each, once the Barik Mobile Pilot Project ends.

Once I become part of the Barik Mobile Pilot Project, what happens with my physical card?

Only wallet titles can be topped up for the physical card.

Initially, only the Gazte 70 and Gazte Oro can be topped up via mobile phone. This means you must carry your physical Barik card when travelling in zones different to those purchased with your Gazte 70 or Gazte Oro pass, or to travel on forms of transport where those two temporary passes cannot be used.

What regulations govern the passes contained in the mobile phone in the Barik Mobile Pilot Project?

  • The same regulations as for the passes contained in the physical card. https://www.ctb.eus/es/ordenanzas-reguladoras.
  • If the user's mobile phone is not switched on and with battery charge during the validation, journey and inspection, it will be understood that the user is travelling without a valid transport ticket

What should I bear in mind before and during the journey with the passes contained in my mobile phone?

How can I extend the zones of my temporary pass while I participate in the Barik Mobile Pilot Project?

You can carry out the extension of zones yourself via the Barik application or at the Bilbao Intermodal Customer Service in San Mamés (c/ Luis Briñas s/n). The corresponding commission must be paid.

How can I modify zones, personal data linked to my Barik card, etc. while participating in the Barik Mobile Pilot Project?

For extension and modification of zones, profiles, change of telephone number, email and other operations linked to Barik Mobile during the duration of the Pilot Project, you must go to the Public Transport Office in San Mamés (c/Luis Briñas s/n)

What do I do if the Gazte 70 or Gazte Oro temporary pass contained in the Barik Mobile app is blocked?

It can be unblocked from the app itself or at the Bilbao Intermodal Customer Service in San Mamés (c/ Luis Briñas s/n) or on board the bus. The corresponding commission must be paid.

What do I do in the event of a malfunction or problem?

You must get in touch with the CTB as soon as possible via the email barikctb@cotrabi.eus or by calling customer service at 94 685 5000.

And if it gets damaged, lost or my phone is stolen?

The owner of the card and participant in the Barik Mobile Pilot Project may request that it be blocked on the CTB website in “access to ‘mi barik’” or by calling 94 685 5000.

In the event of damage, loss or theft and due to security reasons, the Barik card contained in your phone may only be transferred to another phone once per month, subject to possible temporary restrictions when carrying out the transfer.
