Car parks

CTB

There are currently three car parks for users belonging to the Bizkaia Transport Consortium (CTB) located along the metro line. These car parks are positioned strategically so that you can park your vehicle at the station and then use the public transport as a convenient means to reach the different urban centres.

It seeks to provide a solution to the traffic and environmental problems caused by using private vehicles to travel to the centre. There are special rates for passengers that use the park and ride system in recognition of their help towards sustainable development.

General terms and conditions

The car parks are located at the Leioa, Etxebarri and Ansio (BEC) stations. The preferential rate is only available to those people who use some means of public transport (Creditrans operators) and remove their vehicle before the station closes. If the Metro timetable is continuous (transport service throughout the night), the total stay shall not exceed 24 hours. If you do not meet all these requirements the general rate of €0.05 per minute will be applied at Leioa and Etxebarri. The BEC car park has its own terms and conditions.

Location

Two of the three car parks are located next to the Leioa and Etxebarri stations, both of which are managed by Metro Bilbao SA. The third, run by Bilbao Exhibition Centre SA., has many parking places in the BEC car park, next to the Ansio station for that purpose.

Opening hours

The car parks can only used during the metro operating hours and the vehicle cannot be parked or collected under any circumstances outside that period.

If you do not meet all these requirements, you will not be able to benefit from the preferential rate and the general rate of €0.05 per minute will be applied in Leioa and Etxebarri. (BEC car park, subject to its own terms and conditions).

Valid tickets

All the tickets that can be used on Metro Bilbao entitle you to use this service.

If more than one person travels with the same Creditrans ticket, remember that the ticket can only be used to remove one single vehicle.

Payment methods

You can pay for the car park by:

  • Creditrans in Barik
  • Gizatrans in Barik

Car park general rules

You must park your vehicle correctly and comply with the car park signs and markings. If you break these rules, particularly if you use places reserved for the disabled or block in other cars, the municipal authorities may be asked to intervene and tow away the vehicle.

The authorities may also be contacted if any vehicle remains in the car park for several days without being removed, and asked to report an abandonned vehicle and tow it away.

Park rates

The car park rates are calculated using the per-minute charging system and are reduced to a special price in the case of the preferential rate.

The rate to be paid by each user will depend on their use of public transport and compliance of the conditions set out Regulating Ordinance.
