From 30 November, this group will also be able to use their travelcard to travel on the Metro, Bizkaibus, Euskotren, Bilbao tramway, Lejoan Busa, Larreineta Funicular railway, Sopelbus, Bilbobus, Artxanda Funicular railway, Kbus, Etxebarri Bus, Erandio Bus, and the Ereaga panoramic lift.
The Bizkaia Transport Consortium is developing the pilot project that allows passengers to use the Barik card on their mobile phones.
The complexity of the project and the innovative nature of this technology made it necessary to carry out a preliminary pilot project. Initially, it was aimed at users of the Gazte 70 and/or Gazte Oro cards, valid on the Metro, Bizkaibus, Euskotren, Bilbao tramway, Lejoan Busa, Larreineta Funicular railway, and Sopelbus services.
From 30 November, this group will also be able to use their travelcard to travel on the Metro, Bizkaibus, Euskotren, Bilbao tramway, Lejoan Busa, Larreineta Funicular railway, Sopelbus, Bilbobus, Artxanda Funicular railway, Kbus, Etxebarri Bus, Erandio Bus, and the Ereaga panoramic lift.
The pilot test will allow conclusions to be drawn in terms of extending the use of Barik Mobile to the rest of the passengers who will be able to enjoy all the benefits and discounts of the Barik card using only their phone.
The conditions for registration are:
- To be a Gazte user of the Barik System (under 26 years of age and registered as a resident in Bizkaia) and to travel regularly using the Gazte 70 and/or Gazte Oro cards.
- A mobile phone with NFC technology and Android 8.0 Operating System or higher.
- To apply to participate in the pilot. The CTB will approve your participation after verifying that you meet the conditions.
